People in public facing jobs/positions will always face scrutiny for being involved in stuff like this. They arent a faceless worker, theyre representing something, and if their actions have a negative reflection on whatever theyre representing, of course theyll get kicked to the curb. I dont think this is particularly controversial, its just how things work.

Japan, as Im aware, makes voice actors more like personality figures, which is why the examples of people losing job opportunities happened, whereas its less likely to have happened in the US. This part is more of a culture thing to be sure.

Now, whether or not a Miss Japan type thing is something of that nature well from what Ive read in the topic, its meant to be more than physical beauty, so it seems justified enough. If she denied any knowledge of it being an affair, then I would consider it unfair, theres a different between intentionally being with someone who you know has a partner, and unintentionally doing so.
