There's no reason to buy the new console when console makers demand devs make their new games available for last gen consoles too. Not to mention that requiring games to work on last-gen consoles means they can never actually optimize for the new hardware, so the new consoles' versions of the games don't even look or play significantly better than the old ones' versions.
