You're right that there is no guarantee Biden would be able to replace them, but here's a few important things to think of.

• Thomas has had health issues the past few years. As he is old, there is no telling what will happen.
• If Trump is president again, I would almost guarantee Thomas and Alito retire. As seen from the last round, his nominations are Federalist society tested and young. Thus it would guarantee five young conservative Supreme Court justices for the next 20+ years.
• If Biden wins this year, there is no way Harris is the nominee in 2028. She has demonstrated routinely that she is not fit for that job.

Sure Democrats would most likely need to still win in 2028 to ensure they put up new nominees on the Court, but if voters actually started paying attention to our judicial system, maybe they'd realize the importance.
