so you're saying, because he is ok with law abiding citizens toting guns to protect themselves, he shoulda ran towards a group of mostly teenage gang members (with illegally acquired weapons) and started shooting at them? Do you realize how deranged that sounds?

Law enforcement was quickly deployed and the response was quick. The detail assigned to protect a politician isn't supposed to get into gang shootouts either.
