fighting games literally have the same move list over and over. you use them at the exact same times. you learn the same methods. you do the same thing over and over and over again. sometimes you try harder, sometimes you don't try as hard. how is it not boring? it seems like it gets old quickly.
It sounds like TC is into honing skills and feeling accomplishment out of beating difficult challenges and getting better. There's a good chance that they also like competing with other people based on the genres those games are in.

Which is fine. If you know what you enjoy, good for you. Keep doing it.

But other people like different things.
