Abigail Adams - an absolutely vital primary source for the founding and a staunch abolitionist and feminist far far ahead of her time Dolly Madison - a tad overrated for sure but she was absolutely vital to the establishment of culture and arts in the District of Columbia Eleanor Roosevelt - the very model of the modern activist first lady and still the best, absilutrly vital to the advancement of labor unions womens rights and civil rights. Betty Ford - she is a large part of the inspiration for the First Lady on thr West Wing and she was incredible. Single handedly dragged the Ford administration to the left on drugs, womens rights, civil rights, abortion. The real ones know Betty Ford was a bad ass. I will not be voting for: Edith Wilson - I mean she was basically president so thats cool plus she was a huge part of advocating for Wilson to reject womens suffrage, which he overruled her on.
