I did two long sessions early in Ch.12 doing nothing but side quests and I'd been doing a lot on the way. The amount of side content is so vast (20+ minigames with different difficulties and challenges, plus all the exploration stuff, 30+ quests and other collectibles) that if you beelined it to late game skipping the great majority of it you'd have to spend much more time on it than you had progressing through the main story to complete it.
