"Without evil there can be no good"

-- This is what we call a "deepity". It's a statement that sounds nice and profound, but when you analyze it, it really doesn't mean anything or make sense.

Of course there can be good without evil. I can sacrifice a small amount of time to volunteer helping others. No evil needs to happen, unless we define every minor inconvenience and discomfort as evil - which I don't. Ultimately, I believe evil needs intent or it's just misfortune.

I don't think most people disagree either, evil requires intention and therefore there can obviously be good without evil.
