It at least solves the problem of the agonizingly slow speed of the game, addresses some of the Pokedex availability via the Underground (which is absolutely amazing in the remakes), and whatever jankiness the games introduced I honestly didn't notice. But then, I'm a weirdo who goes against the grain by disliking Gen II, really enjoying Gen III, and for my hipster moment I loved Gen V before it was cool to do so.
