In any case, up until recently, I had not envisaged myself staying in my current role for as long as I have. It was only recently that I decided that I had plans for myself, and that staying would be my best course of action. Once I knew that I'd be living with the noise for a little while longer, I realized that I had to do something to tolerate it. It sort of was my fault that I didn't do this earlier.
