Prolly coz they ship from japan <_<My shipping was only 6 dollars for my backer copy. (In murica'/south carolina). I'm assuming its based on location+if you order any extras? I was a 150 dollar tier backer but I don't believe that one comes with too many extra things. Def. was only 6 bucks though. I technically would have already had this game myself had I actually noticed that e-mail where they asked you to pay for the shipping.
