Want to is not the same as will. And then you downplayed it hard to say you wouldn't to save face while still not addressing how creepy it is to think about wanting to harass someone you haven't talked to in 4 years for info about a relationship you don't need to know anything about.

That year matters a lot because a lot can change in a year, especially when you don't talk at all, have a bad track record and you're completely fine with her dating others.

She lied about her relationship status to you for a reason after having shown no interest in you for a year and backtracking on wanting to return gifts, it's not an assumption at all. She has someone else she cares about who wants an actual relation with her while you're crying about her for months straight.
It's also ironic you say that when this topic is you making assumptions yourself.
