I hate wording like this because it kind of tells you nothing. It's less money than they made last year during the same stretch, and less than they wanted to make. But how much did it cost to produce the game, and what kind of profits, if any, did they make off of the trash?

Companies are best to keep this shit vague, from what I understand there are some smash hit films in Hollywoods past that they claimed were a loss for a number of reasons and conveniently that meant people involved didn't receive some bonus or something.

Game companies might pull the same shit claim some random game that looks like it was a hit in some case didn't hit expectations for whatever reason. Oh we sold 3 million copies of game X, but we needed to sell 5 million to turn a profit which may or may not be true. If a company can make more money lying about how rough their situation is you can bet your ass they will.

Now this game was likely a real failure but my point is not every game that they claim didn't meet expectations means it was a financial loss.
