I don't know that a store owner can legally let somebody live in a space like that for a variety of reasons. I'm sure it doesn't pass any safety codes, I'm not sure you can technically have residential space in a commercial zone, and I think allowing her to live there might technically make the store responsible for maintaining that space to ensure it remains livable since she would have all the same rights as any other tenant. --- "History Is Much Like An Endless Waltz.
