oh another thing i thought about today:

sugar.
where the fuck is sugar in the drinks? the vast, and i mean vast majority of drinks you'll find mention they're diet, they're low calorie, and anything that isn't will have warning labels on it. nice of the government to require that in a way but the end result is seeing drink after drink saying they've got aspartame and sucralose. like over here it's bad that we have HFCS in everything, JMAF is the translation over there iirc, and you'll sometimes find that too. but if you're looking for beverages that just have basic ass sugar you're left to some fruit juices.

some of them will also throw in sucralose. like all of these sugar replacements are awful for you, worse than sugar even. hell, sucralose was just confirmed last year to essentially function in the body the same way as sugar on all the negatives except it has more negatives to it from potentially damaging DNA to making people think it's better because look no calories. aspartame meanwhile is just constantly in the "nooo it's ok!" from that lobby when really the damn thing is a poison too.

sure i'll have all these things, but light amounts and i'm keenly aware of it all. i'd rather just have plain old sugar. stevia seems fine. monk fruit seems fine. but while i can find those alternatives here, i couldn't over there. the closest replacement i got was making sure you got the right juices and then getting a bottle of seltzer water to do it yourself.

caffeine is another issue there waiting to drop - so, so, so many of their meds have caffeine in them. like over here we call that Excedrin, which is just acetaminophen/paracetamol (same drug, different name by region of the world), asprin, and caffeine. over there you'll find caffeine mixed into damn near every drug combination you can ask for. while a safer issue than the sugar alternative one, it's one i fear in the long run for.
