He was going on bout how we shouldnt help the poor cause he got out of poverty through hard work and so can they. While trying to persuade him that there was a luck component and I mentioned that life wasnt fair.
He goes did you just learn life isnt fair and then I ended the convo with no Im trying to explain that to you. It would be incredibly fair if hard work was all thats needed to escape poverty. Looking back, I view life is not fair as why some people need and deserve extra help. I think he and a lot of people view life not fair as a justification for why he shouldnt care about the less fortunate.
