My (slow) progress continues! I've completed the Great Bay Temple (which honestly isn't as confusing as people make it out to be), ventured into Ikana Canyon, received the Mirror Shield, and learned the Elegy of Emptiness.

One thing that really has stood out so far is that the dungeon design is WAY better than Ocarina of Time. They clearly put a lot more thought into how Link can move through the world, and refined the world design to match that excellently.

Some things remain a bit too cryptic, though. I knew the Gibdo well maze required a ton of items, so I looked it up before venturing down the well. If you didn't know that, it probably would be the most frustrating part of the game, because there would be a TON of backtracking every time you provide a Gibdo an item, only to find the Gibdo in the next room needs another random item. It wouldn't be as bad if they just needed bombs (as one does), arrows, rupees, or any other common item, but requiring niche things like fish, milk, and Magic Beans is kind of a crappy move.

It's also kind of jarring just how little the completion of the Great Bay Temple does for that region. Completing Woodfall meant that the poison in the swamp goes away. Completing Snowhead brings springtime to the mountains and melts most of the snow, totally changing the environment. Completing Great Bay supposedly gets rid of the "murky water" (???) which is such a minor change it's honestly bizarre. I know that completing Stone Tower does even less. It's weird how they set up this idea that you're fixing the world and yet you don't get much to show for it from the last two dungeons. Ocarina of Time was kind of guilty of that with the Water Temple too, though (Zora's Domain never thaws, but at least Lake Hylia goes back to normal).

My next goal is to farm for rupees to get the 5000 rupee bank Heart Piece. I'll defeat a ton of Redeads in Ikana Castle to do that. I'll also get to Stone Tower but then play the Song of Time to ensure I have a new three day cycle.
