TopicWhen people say "Reddit is garbage", what does that mean exactly?

The sitewide rules are biased. They allow hate subs to stay up based on who's targeted and shut down subs that discuss forbidden subjects even if the talk is so benign it'd be allowed on a board like this one.

On the other hand I don't care too much about the downvotes. I get trashed far more vocally here for non-hivemind opinions lol. On Reddit people mostly just downvote and move on, and I rarely get more downvotes than upvotes (apparently the people who agree with an odd opinion are much more likely to quietly upvote it than to actually speak out in favor of it).

Also don't get modded nearly as much on Reddit, since beyond the sitewide rules and topicality rules plenty of subs are lax on content enforcement (just stay away from the ones that aren't). The rules are often clear on Reddit, even if you don't like them, while the mods here basically just BS you tbh.
