This is why Genshin needs to implement the material synthesis feature Star Rail has (which allows you to convert boss materials to other boss materials at a 2:1 ratio, and you can use different materials together during conversion too). At least that way, if shit like that happens, you can still use it for later. Or, even better: just make 3 the standard, guaranteed drop once you hit WL8. Star Rail and ZZZ don't have variance in their boss material drops as far as I can tell.

At max Equilibrium in Star Rail, you only have to fight the bosses like 13 times, for 5 materials each fight, for all 65 ascension material drops for a 5-star character (4-stars actually need fewer, unlike Genshin), and it only costs 30 trailblaze power per fight (Star Rail's resin system). Which means you only need 390 Trailblaze Power to get all of it, guaranteed at that.

Genshin, you need 68 materials for max ascension (for all characters, 4-star and 5-star), and get 2-3 per fight at 40 resin each fight at max World Level. That means needing anywhere between 23 and 34 battles, at a total resin cost count between 920 and 1360. This isn't even touching on the fact that Genshin's resin regenerates slower than Star Rail's Trailblaze Power at a 3:4 resin-to-trailblaze ratio.

I really hope with the Natlan release, things start improving on this front, because it's getting increasingly worse the longer things go on. We're not even going to get into the fact Genshin still hasn't implemented any sort of feature like the artifact synthesis that Star Rail's relics and ZZZ's drive discs have that let you make the specific pieces you need and (with a rare material) even control what main stat the piece gets.

The newest feature with long-term encounter points basically eradicates the need to ever do daily commissions for a long time, but we've not really had any new QoL upgrades for the actual grind of building teams and stuff. This isn't factoring that they just changed the Mondstadt and Liyue domains to be all purely positive ley line disorders, instead of the negative ley line disorders they had like cooldown increases and stamina/energy reduction. It is weird that they never did this sooner when literally all the other domains in the game have not been a purely negative effect on your combat capabilities, though.

Like, imagine how hype it was when repeating a domain now puts you near the activation device instead of having to walk there an extra 5 seconds each time. Those are the kind of scraps we're having to fight over still. It's depressing...

Sorry, long rant, got sidetracked. Just the more I play these three games, the more I see how they could be taking these newer features from their new games to improve the experience for Genshin players, and yet they just... don't. I don't have any knowledge of Honkai Impact 3rd, so I can't make any references about the quality of life that game has.
