Unfortunately, Snopes says this is fake, and I think Snopes is left-leaning, so if they say something about J.D. Vance is fake, it probably is.

The second link says there's a rumor going around that the couch incident was in either the first edition or a galley proof of the book and later removed, but that the source for that seems to be someone who edited the files for the ebook version and then posted a screenshot of that.
