The first Dungeon Defenders could fit that, though you have a more active role than a normal tower defence game... https://youtu.be/V0nb8TyVP9g It's possible to play it as pure tower defence on easier difficulties, but it's a lot easier if you fight too. Later levels and higher difficulties pretty much requie having multiple characters geared up to take advantage of the different defences they can summon. One of the characters can also play more like an RTS, commanding units. There have been a few newer releases but Eternity was just the same game with minor changes and I think DD2 went with free to play/ micro transaction bs. ^Looks like someone beat me to it ...
