This is the whole story. If you're dismissing this, you're dismissing any chance at winning. The Democrats are losing largely because they're being saddled with all the worst parts of the status quo and have become seen as THE status quo party. The whole world hates the status quo and incumbents are losing everywhere. People are angry most places. Selling more of the same when people hate what's going on is a one way ticket to defeat.

The non-right wing parties need to be the gathering place for righteous rather than reactionary anger, but we constantly try to defuse it rather than harnessing it or directing it. The parties that are winning are the parties that can offer a credible explanation of how they'll be different, this loss is an opportunity that must be taken to do that. To clear out the Clintonites, identify flaws in our ideology and outreach, and transform into a party that can defend and take back democracy.
