I have to kindly disagree with that statement.
Sure, there's a whole bunch if people in the Souls community that derrive some twisted form of self worth from being able to beat up hapless opponents or even random opponents in pvp zones, but you'll find people like that in just about any gaming community that has PVP. Hell, even some of the Diablo 3 community was toxic as fuck back in the day, way more than I've ever seen in Souls

But the thing is, in my time playing Souls, I've met dozens of really cool people, most of whom having actual PVP skills and would shit on 99.9% of the game's playerbase, yet none of them showed behaviour the community is known for unless provoked

I will admit though, when Souls hit AAA status when DkS2 came out, the community got a lot worse
