It definitely wastes the opportunity to try more local cuisine options, but if you're treating food more as a maintenance task than something you specifically try to enjoy and therefore aren't overly concerned about getting to try local cuisine, that's not an opportunity you really need to worry about wasting. Is it "tacky"? Probably, given that caring about food is considered to be the "cultured" mindset, but that's largely arbitrary. It's your trip.
