Funny thing is that in Three Hopes, you actually do see some of Edelgard's plans come into fruition without Rhea throwing a monkey wrench into by bringing in Byleth. She managed to have Monica rescued and not be killed like she was in Three Houses and she was able to expose the Agarthans faster with the temporary partnership with Rhea and stopping them from doing more damage than they could have. She was also able to bring into judgment those who were using her situation and the Agarthans to their advantage within the court like Ferdinand and Bernadetta's fathers.

Of course, people then complain about how Claude was ruined in that game.
