As someone that has watched over 850 titles (18,500+ episodes) I prefer subs.

In most dubs and subs, in most action anime, the dialog is too quiet and the action is too loud. It's easier to just have subtitles on and turn the volume down so the loud explosions or whatever are more bearable, which makes the dialog too quiet.

I just prefer subs over the westernized dialog dubbed anime sometimes uses (which still happens even as of 2025). I am against it when English dubs change dialog to suit western culture. I don't go complaining/raging about it on social media though. I just watch the subs instead, which is what I always do regardless.

I only listen to JPOP when it comes to music with lyrics. I can't stand English/American/Western culture music.

I heard online that the Lazarus dub is superior to the sub but I still watched the sub anyway and I thought it was fine. I could definitely see how the dub is probably way better though.

It's just a preference thing to me. I like my content to be as close to the original as possible (in most cases). I guess if an anime was produced in Japan but the original dub was English and then it was later dubbed in Japanese, I'd probably still wait for the Japanese dub/English subtitle version.
