There's more similar themes between the two than just simple easter eggs. I agree with this. Having the kid in FF X-2 be named "Shinra" would've been an Easter egg on its own. Having him discover a method of harnessing energy from the Farplane almost identical to Mako is an eerie coincidence. Having Rin go on a surprisingly dark monologue about how the spiritually-minded Spirans' days are numbered and that it'll be the technologically-gifted Al Bhed who will soon inherit the world (all too similar to what happened with the Cetra) makes it all a deliberate yet purposefully vague spiritual connection between the two games. The addition of the Shinra character in the founder's photo in Remake is just icing on the cake. It's obviously not set-in-stone canon and probably never will be, but dismissing the connection as just a couple of meaningless Easter eggs is equally shortsighted. --- Simple questions deserve long-winded answers that no one will bother to read. ...
