It's always funny to me that most of the same people who say that "political violence is never ok" is also the same people who don't even raise an eyebrow when the government is out commiting violence as if those two things aren't one and the same.

Political violence happens all the time. We just don't think it's bad because Big Brother is the one doing it and we have legitimized it. A lone gunmen kills a political commentator that supports totalitarian regime is a tragedy. Thousands are dragged into concentration camps, separated from their family and never given due process before being disappeared out of the country? That's a statistic.

Reminds me of the Joker quote from The Dark Knight "Nobody panics when things go according to plan. Even if the plan is horrifying"

And to those who abhor both... at what point are the people actively promoting violence and not just doing the violence, become fair targets? I think about that radio personality during the Rwandan genocide who did so much to egg on the forces of that horror
