It really needs to be stated that despite Rowling herself writing the books pretty much every image and sound people associate with the franchise writ-large is as much credited to Columbus, Williams, set designers, and the vast cast the films had. I think you can still enjoy the franchise if only because Rowling herself is not the sole reason for its success.

The great irony here is that Watson, like other actors, is a major reason people glommed onto the franchise and it blew up as much as it did. It's not that these were obscure before the films or that Rowling hadn't already become a success, of course, but she wouldn't have half her fortune she has now if it wasn't for the films and the proceeding merchandising sales. She should be very thankful to these people but the last few years have it pretty clear she's only grateful to people who politically agree with her.

She's just a fundamentally embarassing person and if it weren't for her political influence I'd say just treat her like Linehan and make her a walking eternal punchline.
