Getting 100% on your 1st playthrough is near impossible without a guide. There's tons and tons of stuff that's not obvious at all as well as stuff the game doesn't tell you. Such as skipping cutscenes will stop you from being awarded percentage points.
Mate, if you are skipping the cutscenes on your first playthrough you *deserve* to not get 100%. Yeah they don't tell you that, but I can't have any sympathy for people who are skipping the story on their first go.

I legit can't tell if your post is serious or sarcasm. Especially with that part about not being allowed to criticize the reuse of FFX assets. With a handful of exceptions like Kilika, the dungeon at the start and the dungeon at the end. All the new areas in FFX-2 are non descript ruins, caves and corridors. It's lazy as hell. With the same locations and enemies from FFX reused without thought
No, that's you misunderstanding me. I was saying that the reused assets was an actual flaw with it and that the battle system itself was gold.

I always heard there were a lot of times where you need to talk to NPCs in specific orders and make particular choices even beyond the faction choice. Not to mention the Commsphere stuff in ch4 which is pretty specific even if you're just trying to get all areas' Mission Completes. Rin.
The Commsphere bit would be one of the times I would consider one of my "five some odd things." As I alluded to, there are a couple that are a bit tricky to say that you would do it on your first go, but the overall number is not particularly high overall (five being more a spitball than me seriously counting).

And there are a fair number of times were you need to talk to NPCs, but none that really require that you talk to them in a specific order or you're boned: something that I would actually consider a bit much. Every FF has a "guy A says to go talk to guy B who then says to go talk to guy C..." style quest, and the fact that X-2 has it isn't particularly noteworthy in the slightest. Similarly an overwhelming amount of the choices you have to make just boil down to "do the hardest thing", and I feel that anyone seriously going for a 100% would always chose that sort of thing in the first place so its existence is hardly an argument for it being notable versus any other game. Don't get me wrong, 100%ing X-2 is a pretty arduous task but it's hardly anything compared to the rest of the series or gaming as a whole. VI's pixel hunt is waaaay worse than anything X-2 brings to the table, and even that pales in comparison to basically any obtuse point and click adventure.
