And to some up what's been said: Everyone agrees this is kind of a big flop on Blizzard's Part (We expect this from some other companies but not Blizzard).
Some people are fine with the only online aspect. The real money auction house appears to be a factor (though I'd think the way to solve it would involve putting the best/most valuable equipment ONLY in online play (so people can't hack it as easily). and to let any character that is played offline never be played online).
And so far there are no compelling arguments against a "Play Offline Option?"
Proposed solution Three: Many deliverable products come with assigned penalties for late delivery. I would suggest a Rebate for user who bought the game while ineffective (scaling for how long the game remains faulty). Or hats. Free Hats.

To be fair, by the time I see the agreements, even if I was planning to read them, I've already purchased and (in the case of buying a physical copy) opened the game.

Blizzard was owned by Vivendi. Vivendi merged with Activision, and then decided that nobody knew who the hell Vivendi was, so they used the most well-known company under their umbrella as their part of the name instead. Blizzard proper never merged with Activision in the conventional sense, so much as merely allowed their holding company to use the name.

Man I don't really try to defend Blizzard but I usually end up doing it anyway.
I don't really see what the big deal about any of this is. I was super excited to play the game and when I couldn't I wasn't happy but I know stuff happens and that it was okay to go do something else for a bit.
The game itself plays great and I am about 15 minutes from beating it (bad server restart time for me ;_;) and I have had such a good time and will have an even better time when I ramp up the difficulty.
