I just signed a bunch of quality depth with the exception of Philip Rivers to take over at QB. He is 5th in the NFL in passer rating, 7th in passing yards, 3rd in completion %, and has thrown for the third fewest INTs by a qualified passer.

We our taking our mid-season break now. For those who have been with us before, there will be no mid-season stat PMs, but you are free to ask me about the stats of any of your players at any point during the season.

I will go ahead and send out morale PMs now to give people a heads up in case someone demands a trade or will only sign with you via the franchise tag during the offseason. In case anybody has forgotten (and also for Tangicide), there are four stages of morale:

1. Green - everything is great
2. Yellow - things are less than ideal
3. Orange - getting really iffy
4. Red - prepare for life after *insert player*

Morale is essentially tied to their rating and whether or not they are starting for your team. The higher a player's overall rating is, the higher the likelihood that they believe they should be starting. If you wish to make knee-jerk reactions to the PM I send you (should you receive one), you are free to, but just know that you could end up making two players unhappy if you start the unhappy player over the happy one.

You cant. I remember either last year or the year before, a pre-agreed trade had to wait until one of the guys came off injury report which took like 4-5 weeks. Can't remember the player just that it was a high rated QB

My initial outlook on this trade isn't very good on the ravens end, not only are you taking almost 5 mil in dead money next year from this trade, you could also sign an 87 HB off the FA market without having to give up anything. If it were an 87 of a different position of need I'd be fine I think but with how deep HB typically is, I don't put much value on HBs of 87, even though that'd be really good for other positions.

That's just my take on it though, I don't think it's egregious, just not a move I would do, and I don't like veto-ing typically because it feels too much like I'm trying to run their teams for them. I also don't want to instigate any bad blood.

Keep in mind his 89 rated HB is out for the season and 33 years old. So there's every chance Courtney Lewis surpasses him. I had also given him the choice of a WR if he preferred.

Also the 87 available in free agency is older (30). Lewis is also in the last year of his contract so he can negotiate whatever deal he wants with him next year.

The guard I'm taking off him is also grossly overpaid. 5.2m this year, 6.34m next and likely 7.5m in the third year. On a 32 year old who is likely to decline in rating. For comparison, my 91 rated guard is paid 3.74m and that is on a brand new deal, not a deal he signed at a lower rating.

Yeah I saw Deuce is out. Also KCF has said that OL players are most resistant to decline. My G Benji Olson is mid 30s and he declined 1 pt last year, I don't thin kit'll be as drastic as you think unless he has a bad year. Lineman are also some of the most expensive, 5.2M for a 92 G is plenty reasonable imo. Down the line, yeah he'll prob be overpriced, but right now I don't think he's that OP. Also Lineman play later than any other position, see flozell adams, a 93 at 37 y/o, so I wouldn't think age is an issue anyway.

The HB being 2 years older would be a bigger deal if they were both over 30, but I guess it depends on if he's aiming for more of a franchise HB or just a plug in for this year. If the former, then this makes more sense.

Ultimately I just think Wiki could get more for a 92 G, no matter how old, espeically since G is not a good position to draft for. All the drafts I've been in so far I don't think I've seen one be graded above 3rd rd material. But if you offered WR and he declined it, then hey, that's his prerogative.

Also, as Emerald said, I am aiming for someone who can stay with the franchise for awhile. Deuce is aging and, once his contract expires in a few years, if he hasn't already retired, then I'll just let him go

If more people find a problem with the trade, then maybe we can change it up (like replacing Clary with a younger guard maybe? Idk)

I assume you can switch a tackle to guard without much of a hit (if at all?). So whilst guards have been thin in the draft, tackles have not been. Last draft in particular had a ton of them

I agree with Emerald, I mean just sign Moore off of FA. For literally nothing. He stays with your franchise for 2 less years than Lewis, but you dont have to give up a franchise Guard for him. Plus you have zero depth at guard, so I dont see how trading your second best guard for a slight upgrade at RB is worth it.

If he wants to make cuts, I can also throw him in WR DJ Hord (77 - 25 yo) but he'd have to free up cap room. Even a 77 becomes his WR3 (+3 on his WR3, +11 on his WR4)

This is true too. I can cut a couple people I don't need and that could work.

What's even more is that I realized that the Redskins are practically hoarding WRs, so I could trade one of my 5 HBs after this deal for one of them, if it all works out.

If Wiki releases his backup FB, either of his 76 TEs (releasing Cook would not require you to release the next player), and his 73 FS (all positions that he has excess in), then he has enough money to sign free agent Melwelde Moore without giving up a 92 G. He also can just release Addai if he's that unhappy with him and sign Moore.

It just seems like a really weird trade to me in value and conception.

Oh and apparently Clary is only 28 not 32, was a typo in the spreadsheet. Which makes sense as I'd been thinking all season that I could have sworn he wasn't that old. That also changes my need for a Guard somewhat (i.e. not as desperate)

The Bills are interested in draft picks or younger players near the rating of current starters (can be a few points below if they're young enough). We are also interested in any QB who is less of a bum than Brady Quinn.
