Apart from that gonna start up a volleyball anime that I hear is pretty good.

Haikyuu is fucking awesome.

Also unlike most hit anime there's like 64 episodes to watch so you won't finish in a day and be wanting for more.

I guess just stating the description is enough to point to what it was

I've only seen a little bit of anime but I want to watch more

Lots of great series out there nowadays. Since you're watching this I'll assume you didn't fall into the "anime sucks now, only these 15 to 25 year old series that aired was 12 are actually good" trap that a lot of people fall into when asking for anime recs.

I mean, my favorite anime show currently is Hunter x Hunter '11 so I haven't thought that at all

I'm just far behind on shows. (That seems to be a trend for me on everything I do haha)

My thing right now is that I can't beyond first episodes of shows. I keep getting all these recommendations but I tap out before the end of episode 1.

This happened to me for a few years. You just have to get back in the mood. People saying you just haven't seen the "right show" to hook you in just haven't been there. Just make sure not to ignore a lot of the recs you already tried once you finally have something click.

Yeah, I usually give a show 4 or 5 eps if someone pushed it hard. But man, nothing has been clicking recently. Well that's not true. American Gods really hooked me; not a rec though.

Did you not have to take biology classes for your vet degree or something?

We actually just finished up talking about white nose bat disease last week both in class and at work, actually. It's a genetically engineered fungus that was never meant to get into our environment naturally. Nice job pretending you know everything, as you Berkeley elitist POS people are so apt to do.

It's always cute when you Berkeley liberal know-nothings thoroughly embarrass yourselves. Trump really should defund that garbage-ass thing you people call a college, because it hasn't turned out anyone worth interacting with in nearly two decades. Blocked.

lol, its an invasive fungus that's likely from europe...not the result of genetic engineering

I want to know who released the bat-killing fungus. I didn't even know there was a fungus killing all the bats in the first place! This topic is educational.

White Nose Syndrome is legitimately scary, and there's a similar rare fungus that's starting to affect humans. Tag me so I remember to pull it from my notes tomorrow.

If a random microbe pops up and kills/infects most of a population out of nowhere, decent odds are it leaked out from a lab and got into our environment. Which sounds silly, but humans have done such things by accident before. Lyme's Disease is completely manufactured, and just randomly found its way into ticks on Plum Island. We have genetic engineers messing around with things they shouldn't be messing around with.

interested in hearing about this...my girlfriend is a mycologist, and there's tons of misinformation about fungi

also, pretty sure the lyme disease thing you mentioned is a conspiracy theory that one guy came up with and has never been proven

what about Lyme disease makes you think it's not natural

I just read some of this
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyme_disease

and a bunch of stuff here suggests it predates the concept of labs, like this part:

The 2010 autopsy of Ötzi the Iceman, a 5,300-year-old mummy, revealed the presence of the DNA sequence of Borrelia burgdorferi making him the earliest known human with Lyme disease

do you think that's like... faked to cover up the secret Lyme disease plot?

edit: looking into it a bit more, I guess the basis of the "it's manufactured" theory is the proximity of Lyme town or whatever to the Plum Island facility

*Sigh* I guess we still have some remnants of it going on.

Climate change deniers are all a product of the Casual Revolution of 2007™. Due to social media and the centralized internet, combined with the late 2006/early 2007 increase in popularity of the 2006 documentary An Inconvenient Truth, climate change turned into a political issue moreso than anything else.

Only about 6 years after the 2000 election fiasco, Al Gore was still plenty in the spotlight. His movie about climate change, whether 100% accurate or not, combined with the "too liberal" Hollywood (mostly guys like Leonardo FinallyanOscaro to a movie that has a slight theme to nature and climate) turned this into a "I just dont want liberals to win at anything so I'm going to deny basic chemistry wah wah" more than anything else. Fuck the Casual Revolution of 2007©, again causing fucking stupidity on so many angles of society.
