He was one of my favorite people once, specifically before 2005. He gave my brother one of his prize-games from 2004 (Champions of Norrath) as a marriage gift and I always appreciated that gesture. We got along well back then, and there were flashes of us still being cool over the years even as the bro-phase faded.

It's a great shame he insisted on lashing out against the board so often. CS&D knows how outrageous his bragging and insulting went with lol xstats -- FOR YEARS. Politics Containment knows how ridiculous his behavior became not just in favor of Donald but against the existence of those topics in general -- and I used to defend his right to be there like eight or nine months ago. Much of Board 8 knows how he interjected himself into topics to damper the fun of others, like with Brawl; he can feel how he wants and argue, but he went on board-wide years-long campaigns to troll until people reached their breaking points. It's hard to see a friend take this kind of turn repeatedly with such commitment for twelve years now. I don't think it's healthy behavior.

I wish he had a happy marriage. Not assigning blame to either person there, but I feel like that's a lot of what happened with him; he'd respond with that excuse after being called out occasionally and I believe him. Maybe he was destined to go this route anyway as he got older...I dunno, but it's a shame.

Chris, doomed forever to be 'Ulti' in my large fake shadow, is a really genuine human being once you learn to just accept that the words he says are a bullshit mask to cover a lot of pain. A lot of you are going to scoff at that, and to you I say fuck you I've known this man for half my life now and I have had more genuine conversations with him than you can possibly imagine. I have had conversations with what sometimes feels like half the board when Ulti is acting a fool and I will be asked "why are you friends with Ulti?" and the reason for that is Ulti and I are a lot alike, we share a lot of the same pains. The difference between us is sliver thin on some days and the big difference on those days is I was always a more clever, devious liar than Ulti could ever hope to be. I can mask my pain and rage with a smile and a joke, and in some ways I appreciate that Ulti cannot. That Ulti just sometimes is so down and dark that he comes to this board and just is a total asshole.

I get that he has pissed a lot of you off, there have been days where if the force of my anger to Ulti was made into physical form I would have probably beheaded him. He has said some very nasty things about some dear friends of mine on here, people who I can genuinely say I love. I remember in 2004 when he outed me to the board for taking anti-psychotic medication I had never felt so violated in my life up until that point.

So yeah, I am not trying to gloss over the bad but when I saw this topic that's what I thought about. Ulti and I are alike in a lot of ways, different too in a few of course, but there are some days I look back and I wish I wasn't such a good liar. Ulti's is a terrible liar, you will always know what he is up to if you care to look, and I really appreciate that.

ulti has a ton of insecurities and it reads loud, chris is right, he isn't a good liar. and his whole "trolling" scapegoat is absurd, it's an excuse to wash away his shitty behavior.

once i realized the insecurities his behavior became understandable.

jeff, the board isn't really obsessed with ulti. ulti is loud, abrasive, and says OTT stuff left and right. it's so very easy to notice him when he's so disruptive on so many subjects and begs to be confronted.

and yeah, he rubs people the wrong way. it's a recipe for being remarked upon.

he's a sad clown show user. or at least that's the image he's given me. the more i learn about him, the more i just laugh in despair.

My actor-friend replies to Ulti's comment, and they argue fairly logically for awhile; I agree more with my actor-friend, but both sides were okay. It eventually wraps up that night and all is fine.

The next morning, I look through all my comments again. Ulti's original comment is there, but none of my actor-friend's responses are there anymore -- nor are Ulti's responses from there. The time-stamp had also changed on Ulti's original comment. I tag Ulti to his lone comment here and ask him what happened, to no response.

It is my conclusion that Ulti didn't think he looked good in that argument, so he deleted them all by deleting his original comment...but he also thought his original comment looked good despite his defense of it, so he copied and pasted that same post again afterward. That way, nobody could see that there was even a differing opinion from his own.

He literally wasted my actor-friend's time and he had no defense for it. It's not healthy to keep that behavior around and I don't want my real-life friends thinking I deal with that behavior. He can't do that here (lol mod-pockets), but it's indicative of how he handles opposing opinions: he wouldn't allow them to exist if they make him feel like he won't win.

Chris you know full well that while not all pain is equal its more about the person and how they view the pain than the actual pain.

A small thing for some people is huge and vice versa. You could experience someone not liking your writing worse than someone else experiences a bad marriage.

I like Ulti. He's been to my house, we played Melee and RE4 and he's genuinely a chill dude.

It's just he uses the internet as an escapist place where he can let his id run wild and absorbs attention. And negative attention is just the easiest to get, sadly.

I hope he finds peace wherever he ends up.

I do give Ulti the benefit of the doubt because like others have said, he's a guy dealing with some pretty painful issues, not an intentional troll. It's the way he deals with his emotions that's the problem. Can you imagine how different the board would be if he was just a regular presence in the Depression topic, supporting others and receiving support in return? Instead, he uses the board as his own personal dartboard. Barrage the thing full of holes, apologize, claim you've changed, and immediately start barraging again. At this point, the dartboard is more holes than board; his reputation with Board 8 might be irreparable.

I do agree that I think a lot of Ulti on this board is a persona.

We weren't in a good place and had a bit of a conversation through PMs where I shared some personal things with him about my life and how the way he treated me actually affected me. He apologized, it came across as legit, and we were in a much better place on the board after that.

And while I did appreciate that greatly, I don't know why he feels the need to be this different person and can't just treat everyone kindly.
