Nothing too major. Ulti was cut from a mafia game. He went the if you dont let me play I am taking my ball and going home route. Suprak didn't cave to it. Ulti supposedly left for good. He will be back in a few days most likely.

Puns made some say nice things to ulti topic. Bunch of ppl who regularly argue with Ulti devolved the topic to being about Ulti's mental issues and needing help sorta thing.

He seems like a chill dude to me. But beyond video game discussions, I don't really participate in any other conversations on the board so I don't know how he posts in the Politics and Mafia topics.

He has strong opinions on everything but I believe that is because he is passionate about what he does whether it is gaming or writing. His reviews especially the positive ones are some of the best in the site. Not to mention his PCA topics are always a joy to read and also requires a lot of work in a short span of time. He deserves some credit for that at the very least.

I have seen users react venomously when confronting him about something they disagree with him on. I've also seen some wait for their opportunity to totally jump on him in topics and demean his post.

There are far far worse users on this board with laughably inflated egos and I've seen them get away with posting things 10 times worse than Ulti's.

The board will certainly be a better place without some users, Ulti is definitely not one of them.

People are allowed to give their perspective, even if they don't see the same things we do. That's a lot of what perspective is, really. Like...I hear ya Lasa, I do, but it doesn't change what Axl's seen from his experience.

I never played Mafia so I can't speak to his behavior on that either. There are gonna be users who avoid the Politics topics like the plague too. You can show people some examples from there or not, but people are gonna come from different angles.

Yeah, those first two paragraphs, while inaccurate (in my opinion) are an opinion and they're just fine. But those last three sentences are just bashing people for not sharing the same opinion.

If you are taking any part of what I said as 'attacking users who don't share my perspective', then let me just stop you right here and say it is not. That was never my intent nor do I believe I made it sound like that. But whatever I'm not here to please anyone.

This topic is about saying nice things about Ulti and that is what I did. If me pointing out that there are far worse users on the board is attacking yours or other ulti haters' perspective, then seriously, think again. Anyway I don't care enough to argue about something so trivial. So peace. I'm out.

Because Corrik is responding to things said in this topic, specifically this line of discussion and you are assuming that everyone who told Ulti to get help was coming from a good place which, in my experience with this board (This reminds me I used to say I was Board 8's resident HISTORIAN as a bit of a joke with Vlado's JOURNALIST declarations, hah that takes me back) seems at the very least charitable.

Yeah I have to say this is the one thing that has puzzled/frustrated me most over the past year or so. It's one thing to enable a troll by responding but I get the impression with Ulti you're doing something much more harmful than just petty internet trolling when you engage him.

i said this earlier but just to be totally clear: i didn't know ulti had mental issues before this topic.

this is like when jdtay left the board and muffin went "man how dare you people bully a poor guy with mental issues off the board" and i was like "i... did not know he had mental issues?"

i spend a lot of time here but i can't know all the significant board 8 stuff. i'm probably missing a lot because i avoid the discord, too.

(and for the record, i wouldn't say i was ever "bullying" either jdtay or ulti.)

Maybe I'm just projecting, but to me it's hard to regularly ignore somebody who you used to be friends with while in a close community you both visit every day.

I feel the same way. It's upsetting to see how much he's changed. Trying to get him to stop, or at least calm down a bit, didn't accomplish anything. If he truly does have any mental issues then I'm understandably untrained in how to deal with the sort of thing. But it still makes me feels like I could have done something... even if I couldn't.

He's a pro at FFT. I remember one of my first impressions of the board was "oh wow, the other TrueCalc guy posts here"

In fact, when I first came here, Ulti was going on a crusade against user contests, which were also a new concept to me at the time. So it was kind of a formative board 8 experience: this is a place where users compete in contests, but they are controversial.
