I'm 27, I want a small room or a bachelor's apartment but I'm afraid that if I leave my mother in a year I will never become an engineer. I don't know why that's bothering me. I want to learn a trade instead and get a car. Is it normal to want to leave home at 27? : (

Unless you are a looser Italian in Italia (They live with mom untill the reach 30), move the hell out of the house and start taking care of you self.
You probably don't even know how to wash your own clothes.

Foreal tho. I lived with my ma until 23. She wasn't in my business so it wasn't a big deal for me to move out right away.

I moved out as 16. Best thing I'd ever did. I love my parents. But the feeling of freedom just beat everything.

No there isn't. Being independent and responsible is completely unrelated to where and who you live with. You can live alone and still be a worthless dirt bag.

that's cool and I'm glad for you to be able to do that. but believe it or not some ppl can't just leave their parents behind and do their own thing. parents being sick or otherwise needing daily assistance being a common reason

I think I would need a partner though, like a girlfriend. And i'm a bit scared to ask match.ca/com cause I'm afraid I would need to lose like 50 ibs to acquire the best possible reverse match. I don't want to suddenly lose weight during the relationship and it causes problems. Thanks for the talk CE your always a great buddy.

acquire roommate

And from what I've learned, you'll never get things to go your way if you just wait for them to come to you, you gotta take it for yourself. Would've helped having this mindset myself several years back.

It sounds like you are an only child. I'm one of 3. So no problems there.

i dunno why would u would assume that when I wasnt even talking about myself. it was an example since some ppl tend to think the only scenario where a person is still living wit their parents at an old age is if they are leeching off them

Honestly, I'm 32 and still live with my parent since getting even a studio apartment here in CT in a good thousand without water or electricity. So I just pay halve that to live with them.

I dunno, it's not that I really look down on anyone for doing whatever, but I do think its a little weird when someone past typical college age or so is still living with their parents, assuming both they and their parents are in good health and its not an issue of someone needing a caretaker. Could be regional, like mach25687, crazy expensive cost of living, where you are probably in some ways doing your parents a favor just financially by pitching in. Here you can easily get a perfectly decent place in a good area with utilities for definitely under $500, probably around $400 if you shop around and are lucky. If you're willing to live in a moderately sketchy neighborhood it goes down even more.

I may have some bias because it was always just understood growing up that once I was done with college I was out of the house, lol. I did end up back for a few months when my roommate got married and my wedding was coming up fairly quickly, but had to pay "rent."
