One of those films was a 1961 British film called Victim. It's about a closeted lawyer who has enough information to bring down a blackmailing ring, but who can't do so without outing himself in the process. For context, homosexuality was still considered a criminal offense under Britain's "anti-sodomy" laws and was punishable by up to four years in jail.
It's a pretty interesting film. While not the first to feature a protagonist who was gay, it was the first English language film to use the term homosexual. ... Copied to Clipboard!
