So thoughts from girlfriend after (finally) watching the quarter finals for Mae Young Classic.

My buddy spoiled her on who wins a week ago. She was upset that she was spoiled.

She was sad that Abbey Laith lost to Mercedes but enjoys just how much Mercedes mugs for the cameras and looks like a thug.

She hates Shayna Baszler for reasons of being mean to Candice LeRae, choking her after bell, and kicking her after the match. She thinks that the result should have been overturned and that Shayna doesn't even seem that good because she just lucks out and snatches on her submission out of nowhere. She thinks she will make the finals because she is Ronda Rousey's friend. Yes, it is even that predictable to people who don't watch wrestling.

She didn't get why Piper Niven was so nice all of a sudden. She loves Toni Storm and thinks that Piper was pretty cute in the beginning of the match. She was super happy Toni won though.

And then she knew Kairi Sane wins and was till happy to watch Kairi because she's adorable. She liked Dakota Kai's kicks a lot though.

Maybe we'll finish this eventually!

RAW was a lot of fun. Kalisto FINALLY joining the Cruiserweights; the entire Intercontinental segment with the early Miztourage beatdown, the match itself, then random Bar (I will never not pop for Cesaro and Sheamus these days); everything with Mickie James; Alicia Fox not only on tv, but also in a match, and also also talked up by commentary (also Booker's laughter when Corey asked if that could be described as "snatching one bald"); great Elias match and song; first time I've liked Charly Caruso backstage; the quiet Enzo interview, the Enzo rundown and chatterbox segment; and no Michael Cole!

Of course, there was the Susan G. Komen thing and the Good Brothers and Jason Jordan did something I think, but best RAW I've seen in some time.

Teasing it and building it organically dont work as well in wrestling as on TV.

Literally just have Roman come out for the save do the Triple Power Bomb and have them yell "WERE BACK" and its way more hype.

So I watched Raw just now and I was thinking during Roman's promo whats been lacking

andw what was cool about him in Shield was that he was just this intense badass. He was cool and he was hyped up and a monster. Like I remember that one time he walked through the crowd and blindly fist bumped a fan and it was so cool looking.

The thing is now he is just laid back and theywant him as this cocky stoic dude. And then during the match he did his intense get psyched up shake the ropes stuff and I was invested in the match. So I dont know if thats because they are going back to Shield stuff or what, but if they wanthim to be the guy they want again he needs to be intense.

also man Miz is so good. He looks like such a villain especially with Bar backing him up. I dig it

I think HHH uses NXT as a way to test out things he can't get away with otherwise. See if the support is there, see if the end result works (which it probably will), and then BAM: another idea on the pile, like bringing stables back en masse.

I mean, unless it completely bombs like the Ambrose Asylum, House of Horrors, and the Punjabi Prison match (boo), War Games could be a useful stipulation going forward. It also shows that WCW actually had good ideas...that Vince will never admit to.

Bringing back World War 3 in some modified form would be awesome. I think the big issue is that logistically it was always a nightmare to show on TV, but that was a WCW that was notoriously bad at the TV side of things. Maybe turn into a 2-ring Rumble? I don't know.

I know I've said before that the ideal solution is to do each ring individually and then end the show with the final 5 from each ring together for the finish

But also even if you did it the "traditional" way, WWE would be much better at making things easier to follow

Note how you never really risk "missing anything" in Rumbles these days

I think the Rumbles are actually getting sloppier over time. This last year really felt like a one-camera show. But some of that might be the directive to tell simpler stories so the few subtleties from older Rumbles are gone, however.

Of course, WWE never had the problems of WCW in presentation.

The truly terrible shark cage match was the one with Enzo in it. Jericho's while not something I'd ever want to see again was okay. (though yeah Authors of Pain one was better)

I like how not long after Cass got injured, somebody went "So what if instead of him being 90% right, we now make him 150% right..." and made Enzo even more obnoxious.

I half expect Cass to just point at Enzo and make a "C'monnnn" expression when he returns, instantly turning him face.

I like how the week after the betrayal, Enzo actually showed a lot of remorse and apologized to Cass, showing humility for probably the first time as a character in NXT or WWE.

And then Cass lawn-darted him and he just doubled down on all his awfulness.

I kinda like Enzo even more now because of it.
