Against Omniscient and Shadow Lord for sure, they're also better for ranged bosses and plane shifters like Gafgarion. Physical Meta is dominating at the moment through because of Cloud USB RW and Bartz/Vaan/Squall, but Onion Knight's Sage USB and new chases USBs for Ashe/Riona/Krile/Some FF14 chick who I forgot her name are going to power creep it up.

Really beefing up FFX here. The SSB isn't good but it's armor so even that's not a bad draw. Thinking how to use that USB in battles now, initial thought is it will let me move Wall from RW to native (taking Y'sh off proshellga duty) and open up more options for the RW.

Other stuff: Jump Start so easy this time around, didn't need to adjust my normal A-Team setup at all. Also, thanks for the Cid Raines advice, gonna go ahead and dive him

Better than the 3 posters above you at the very least.

Which Hope BSB? He has 2 of them. I could say the same for Snow, but most SSBs aren't really important in general.

Shadow USB should be pretty good, though I don't quite get what Mirror Image is. Sounds good for dishing out dark damage at least.

Yeah I don't mind the Lightning USB. Not something I would've ever drawn for but among relics where that's the case it's one of the best to get.

Might have a puncher's chance against Lightning Magicite Dungeons now too, since I also have Ashe's and Laguna's bursts.

Lightning with USB+BSB2 and Ashe with BSB are my damage against Bismarck and they can consistently clear sub-30. Both are fully dived though.

From what I've heard Shadow USB is really good, and the upcoming ninja ability buff makes him a total powerhouse.

I got Shadow USB from the 6* LD during the last fest, and he's stupid good, especially if you have the 5*motes to give him that Ninja doublecast. Hone the physical Ninja abilities (Shadow Embodied and Ancestral Reflection) and go to town. You can also use him with the similar water abilities. It won't trigger the quick cast, but you'll still do two physical attacks afterwards, and those have a very high multiplier.

To be fair, this isn't an USB that is perfect for all content. Against bosses who spam lots of AoE physicals, you might find it underwhelming, since it's hard to keep the physical blink active. Against magic spamming bosses though, this is absolutely top tier dps.

Beat Bismark in 1:02.96. Orlandu died at about ~40s or so, or it would've been faster. Brought Lightning, as I have her imperil BSB. Going to do it again shortly to get sub 60.

Got a question though. With a small lightning boost sword, Orlandu's attack is (in total) at 440 or so. With my highest attack sword, he'd be around 520 (keeping the 7* kaiser shield on him, which also ups lightning). My question is how far does the gap have to be in attack for me to just go with the highest attack option, rather than the element boost?

Beat Bismark in 49.55s this time. Orlandu didn't die, so that helped shave the time. Apparently element boost weapons are better when you're above the softcap. With just shout as a buff for Orlandu, pretty sure he'd be at 792, so just below it (I think it's 805?). Either way, just Hydra and Fenrir left before dark/holy unlock.

So I'm soon going to have all these Nightmare Dungeons done, and with them enough crystals to actually maybe invest in a 6* ability or two.

Which of the 6* abilities are worth making? Or rather, which ones are traps? In the case of the trap question, especially ones on this following list.

I have some interest in:

Northern Cross
Dervish
Affliction Break
Curada
Valigarmanda
Meltdown
Omega Drive
Ultima (heard this one is a trap, though, :()
Lifebane
Stitch in Time
Allegro Con Moto
Penalty Strike (this seems bad too)

I always thought Northern Cross seemed really cool but how many bosses these days are immune to stun? Is it just smarter in general to get Dervish? Are there any solid 6*s that don't have crystal overlap with much other stuff?

People seemed hyped about Allegro too.

I made Quadruple Foul and love it. It really isn't practical for most stuff, but I really enjoy it.

As long as you're above the soft cap after buffs (805 attack or 1056 magic), the element boost is way more useful. If you're only using a physical team then shout + one other stacking 30% buff (like vessel of fate) will get you over the soft cap starting from 440.

So I guess most bosses still have some stun vulnerability then if at least Nick is saying Northern Cross is good? Just rambling a bit here...

Curada is a must (White, Earth, Holy)
Affliction Break also seems great if I run a 6* support (Power, NE, Dark)
Omega Drive just seems useful considering how many 6* combats there are (Power, Fire, Dark)

Probably priority crystals seem like White, Earth, Holy, Power, NE, Dark, Fire. So the secondary good ones would be...

Then you've got Black, Fire, Earth on Meltdown
And Power, Ice, Wind on Northern Cross

And among the outliers

Dervish - Power, Lightning, Wind
Valigarmanda - Summon, Ice, Lightning
Ultima - NE, Fire, Black
Lifebane - Fire, Earth, Lightning
Stitch in Time - Dark, Ice, Wind
Allegro Con Moto - White, Earth, Holy
Penalty Strike - Dark, Ice, Lightning

So Allegro is off the table if I'm going Curada, but on the plus side it doesn't interfere with anything either. Valigarmanda seems like a "smart" thing to make since it has limited overlap and might not be too different from Meltdown if most of my attack mages are summoners anyway.

Kinda thinking Curada, Northern Cross, Affliction Break, Valigarmanda are priority for now, play it by ear till later. Kinda curious what plans are for 6* Darkness or Shooter skills are.

Northern Cross - not that great, since almost all high level bosses are immune to stop/interrupt. I honed this to R2 a long time ago and I rarely use it.

Dervish - haven't used it, but seems like it has potential with the high multiplier and 8 hits. It's no elemental though and right now the game is pretty focused on elemental weaknesses (unless you're Cloud's USB with Omega Drive)

Affliction Break - this one can be pretty useful

Curada - strong, but requires commitment to hone it

Valigarmanda - strong but like all summons has limited uses.

Meltdown - one of the best

Omega Drive - especially good if you have Cloud USB. I don't use it much because I don't have Cloud USB.

Ultima - trap, but I think it gets buffed in the future.

Lifebane - if you meet the attack threshold it's basically another Omega Drive. If you don't then it's a lot weaker.

Stitch in Time - super narrow. Fujin and Tyro are basically the only Ninjas who can take advantage of it, and they usually have better things to do.

Allegro Con Moto - some people really like this one - I haven't used it yet because I don't have any good bard SBs.

Penalty Strike (this seems bad too) - yep, it's bad.

Yuffie's an okay ninja mage. I've used her as one pretty often. Constant stream of RES ignoring AOE damage that can get to like 4.5k base and builds meter relatively fast on hitting weaknesses so I can use more soul breaks. And ninja magic covers a lot of weaknesses so you can actually get close to constant 8000-9000+ on a lot of stuff. Which I mean, I guess that's bad as a pure DPS but when I mostly just want meter it's okay. Adds up over time!

Though once I get soul breaks for her beyond her super it'll be less and less practical to run her as that and I'm usually putting a dance in her second slot even when I do that with her anyway.

Basically off the table in any case. Will have to keep my ear to the ground on an Ultima buff though. It's freakin ULTIMA man. Maybe just Curada, Affliction Break, and Valigarmanda for now. That covers 9 crystals on 3 skills, seems pretty solid.

Ninja magic is great. But it uses a different damage formula from black and summon magic so you don't need high magic to maximize it. The soft cap for ninja magic is 390 or something like that which is really easy to hit - hence why Stitch in Time is only really useful for ninjas who also have black 5 or summon 5 access.

Yeah I know I already have one and use it from time to time, and I know about the difference in the formula-- thing is when you're doing flat damage that ignores resist going over the cap does matter. Like I said getting to 9000 damage ninja magic isn't too hard if you hit a weakness. You gotta use elemental boosting gear and Ninja Damage +40% so your base MAG is low so those extra boosts do help

It does run out in long fights though, and like I said I'm sure for the very highest level content it's not very viable due to lack of damage overall (though I have been doing it in difficulty 200 and 220 stuff and it's still pretty okay) but yeah.

I have meltdown and snowspell strike at R3, and omega drive and Vali at R2. Snowspell is what I use most often, meltdown with any Mage I have (aside from Raines, since I normally just run his burst).

so i took that weird coincidence as a sign i should pull on the lucky draw. got Rikku's USB and proceeded to beat the lowest difficulty Geosgaeno Cid Mission. not sure if i can beat the 250 or the 300, but i guess i probably could beat 250 at least with Rikku BSB + Cloud USB again. though the trash could be really annoying.

as much as i like Seph, i think i have to pass on this banner. have his BSB2 and OSB already and the other character relics aren't appealing in the slightest.

I wish I had Rikku USB, but no way I would trade my Lightning USB for it. Lightning's my best damage dealer now. Rikku USB is fine as a RW - saves you from having to use 2 ability slots for proshellga.

Did the 3-man Cid Mission on Nova Dragon, this boss was though! I tried it without wall and hoping that I could kill it fast enough by using Cloud USB RW on Zidane and Freya BSBs but he had too much HP and Tsunami and Psychokinesis does so much damage even with breaks and shellga/protectga. I had to RW Wall and used Cloud as my main DPS while Zidane supported with imperil winds. Also hate that Ekio's Burst entry overwrite Cloud's USB 100% Critical, ugh.

Can't do the d200 CM since I lack a boostga for that realm (and no soul breaks for Quina) and Rikku's USB RW wasn't cutting it.

I'm also really bummed that I'm a few short *4 vit motes from Legend Diving Shelke, so I'll have to wait until next week for the FF4 raid that hands them out. I think she can help me finally 30sub Magicite, at least Mist Dragon since I'm only a few seconds off.
