Hey guys. Tyro/tidus/red 13/ramza/yuna worked well for jump start but I get my ass kicked in regular 160-180 fights with this comp. I bring breaks, full breaks, protect and she'll (parry wide versions ) so I am curious if I could be missing something.

do you have dr mog's teachings and mako might? random drops for Cloud and Tyro after being cap broken a second time (able to go above 65). you want those on Tyro and Yuna to get haste on everyone asap and have an aoe heal ready to go from 2 if needed (assuming Yuna will be using protectga or shellga first).

you'll have to wait a bit for Red XIII and Ramza's buffs this way, but they can use wrath or lifesiphon + one break each. you only need to use breaks every 4 turns (or 3 if one of those turns is a longer-casting action like a soul break). Tidus should also use lifesiphon to start. Tyro is a bit more flexible; usually you can recast haste without any lifesiphon or wrath by the time it's necessary again. you might just use lifesiphon/wrath against bosses that slow, or ones that lack the aoe to target Tyro often enough.

if you want to beat stuff in the meantime, you might consider using a haste RW and maybe swapping out some support for more DPS. i often use subpar teams with those RWs to beat 160-180 stuff (the Cid Missions have been 180 for a while now and there are many realms where i have no hastega relic). Eiko/Yuna USBs are heals with hastega attached, there's some BSBs as well, i think Mog and Minwu (but those i think don't have an initial heal, just healing commands). for straight buffs, either Ramza BSB2 or Rikku USB (save the protectga/shellga slots) could also work.

200 Vali is actually really easy if you bring a mind boost, mind breakdown, and a mind break/down soulbreak since his damage isn't that high. Stop scales so heavily on mind that you can basically ignore it at that point.

If you don't have a mind boost or a soulbreak that hits mind though yeah it can be kinda rough. Going prepped it shouldn't be too bad though. Never had Rikku's goggles actually prevent the stop either so I suspect it might have a base success of higher than 100% or be autohit

let's see, i have three mind boosts. Tyro USB and Marche/Aphmau BSBs (i forgot i actually had a healer with a mag buff, that could help a lot with my mage teams).

i even have Barret's hyperbreak that's fire elemental. should be easy enough. will probably RW Vivi USB just to destroy it that much harder.

His MND isn't actually that high. Three's overkill for sure. I was able to get it to less than like 2s duration on base 400 MND + Yuna's Mag/Mnd +30% + Mind Breakdown + Gordon's Mind Hyperbreak. As long as you're mostly using dudes with decent mind (which mages are significantly more effective damage anyway) there should be no issue.

btw new fest banners are known in Japan. new level of CSB is crazy, starting with +50% damage. Cloud gets a UOSB and a new USB with en-wind and the damage cap break both in one, though lacking the other crazy damage boosts i think. and the overall fest features a lot of characters i like. a Squall/Tidus banner and an Ashe/Tifa banner, with Ramza getting one of the new CSBs.

unfortunately there's like, 7 banners i want to pull on in the meantime. the earth banner dropping in a few hours (though i'm probably not pulling on that anymore after seeing what Tifa gets in 6 months), FFIII, FFT, FFV, like three of the third anniversary banners, and FFVI (not the one coming tomorrow, but the one with Celes USB).

Do you know if his new USB has something where if you use a certain type of attack it does additional, like Tidus USB for instance?

Cause if so that completely negates the need for his BSB2 and therefore saved me 400 mythril. Actually... is the Wind Spell blade that we are getting stronger than BSAsb2 command 1 if both are under enwind.... cause is so we already got a winner.

It's getting to the point where I need to start realizing how many soul breaks is overkill for someone to be expected to use. Since the old ones aren't getting powercrept out into irrelevance anymore you've got a lot of character that have more good breaks than they can use.

Like I see Rikku has a water chain and attack +50% on that banner, but then Rikku also has two really good Ultras and honestly a decent unreleased burst too, and it's unlikely I can maintain all of those except in Jump Starts particularly since she doesn't have Lifesiphon so like, how much do I really care to draw for from her

Similarly, with Tidus do I try to let him be the chainbearer to keep that stress off Rikku to keep the Water Chain up so she can more frequently use her other two. Or do I, since her chain is better, not put high priority on Tidus's chain to free HIM up for other stuff.

What is FSB?

For that matter what is his UOSB too?

as far as i understand FSBs use half an SB bar and are instant cast, allowing for stacking en-element up to x3. UOSBs use 1.5 SB bars and hit a total multiplier around double an OSB, can only used be once per battle. Cloud's is pretty typical, 20 hits then a single overflow hit.

beat Sealion today. just golem and hydra left. golem seems doable, but hydra... man. i have no earth SBs except Ingus BSB. the best things i can come up with:

Prishe w/ BSB. if i LD her, that's 35% dual-cast, always fast-casting, and essentially infinitely sustainable if i use each command once per burst mode. if i can fit in Ramza USBs before each BSB then even better.

Squall w/ either BSB commands or USB + flare strike. i think the latter would be a bit better but i'm not sure i want to invest in it.

Ingus w/ BSB. bonus of helping survivability. but even with en-earth i think he'd be doing the least damage of these options.

Vivi, Shantotto or Papalymo LD meltdown. Papalymo with the advantage of having an SB i'd use in a magic party anyway, though for this specific fight he wouldn't be as good because all my other options are physical. Shantotto would be great if i had 3 ability slots for meltdown, chain stonega and memento mori, but without MM she's inferior to Vivi and with it she just burns out too quick. Vivi is probably best bet, chain stonega to build gauge until i can use his default SB, find some way to trance, and then start meltdown. this only requires Ramza USB to soft cap mag and gives 50% dualcast.

honestly half of this banner doesn't even seem like it'd help. Tifa wouldn't do anymore than a LD Prishe, and would only really help with the imperil (but then her own damage would drop off a cliff once en-earth runs out). same thing sorta applies to the other imperil. seems like it'd really just be Ingus CSB, Maria BSB, and maybe Galuf USB that would help (or Bartz with BOTH relics).

Welp, did one draw and got Balthier SSB and Penelo LMR. It's such a kick in the nuts in this game when you do a draw and don't get any of the things you want. (Penelo LMR actually does seem good but I don't have any of her SBs so I almost never use her.)

So I can apparently do Liquid Flame in about 40s pretty reliably now that I have Sazh as my support unit.

I bet I could make up the difference by getting Bismark shame my Lightning element ain't quite up to snuff yet. Maybe Entrust could also make up the difference I dunno. I do have it but I need both of Sazh's buffs up which means it's a while before he's even in position to entrust

If I had the damn Hyper Mighty G it'd solve a lot!

If you're looking for earth relics the upcoming FFV Banner is way better than the fest, Dorgann gets a chase USB, and his BSB has imperil earth, and Kelger is the earth version of Edge/Shadow's USB. Also look at those elemental boosts on that banner.

Also that Pecil USB2... *drools* finally another character that has Wall! And he heals the party for 1500 each time he uses a Knight ability! Pair him up with Marche and who needs healers anymore?

yeah i was considering pulling on that, but 4 months is a long time to wait to be able to clear hydra. i got the ice+ bracer from XIII and i was going to go for Squall's UOSB for ice+ sword so i don't have a huge need for those anymore. Tifa's LMR is an earth boost and i assume at least one of her USB2/UOSB is as well. i'd mainly be pulling for the earth swords and armor for Celes/Leo/Orlandu.

Finally sub30'd Golem! With a physical team to boot! Bartz, Zack, Rikku, Shelke and Rosa. Kinda funny how Zack is both the most valuable yet useless character on that team. It's RNG dependent but should be easier once I legend dive Zack.

So happy about this! I already am overstocked on the magicite from the other 3 I can sub30 so I'm glad to have some new magicite to farm (I don't want to farm on 3* magicite if I can't sub30 them anymore) Thinking Hydra next, but the problem is that Quake Strike and Gaia's Cross only do 2 hits so I'm probably gonna have to wait until Earthbringer and maybe the quadstrike come out before I can sub30 him.

i have have yet to pull from any banner in the I-V range (outside of 100 gems back when i was doing those, and even then i'm not sure which of those games that covers; probably just IV and V) and my VI pulling can be summed up as 7 single pulls before the existence of SSBs that resulted in a non-SB gold shield. they are tempting me now though with the upcoming III event, and the much further off IV-VI events.

i don't like FFV and don't care for its cast. Gilgamesh is the only one i really like. Bartz in particular i don't like how they've tried to shove down our throats. i kept getting all of his relics anyway up through the OSB.

also at the the time of that banner specifically i was hardly playing the game. wasn't even looking at what was on banners, just collecting mythril and MC3s and stopping after that every event. that's how i got up to 600 mythril before the recent Tidus banner.

CM was possibly the easiest one yet, with Alphinaud/Papalymo faithgas, both using Vivi BSB as RW. kept them and Y'shtola each time, with slight equipment and RM adjustments. swapped out Yda and Minfillia for Squall and Ramza for 250/300. so glad i got Ramza's USB from that lucky draw, it's so fucking good.

I'm jealous, I love Vivi. Did you also legend dive him? His trance mode seems amazing as long as you can consistently trigger it.

The mote fights have been kinda fun because they're SO much easier than the Magicite. I won the second one (Dex motes) in under 10 seconds on my first attempt. Behemoth took a little longer today but still less than 20s.

i don't have Vivi's USB lol, but man i really want it. i used it as the RW, having both Alphinaud and Papalymo summon it, Alphinaud with chain firaga and Papalymo with meltdown. i actually don't even have a single soul break for Vivi, but i'm still thinking about LDing him to help with golem and hydra. plus i might pull for his USB in the next banner, though there's so many other things i want to pull for. if only he was on the same banner as Zidane.

i agree the mote fights are fun. i forgot there was a new one today, which i haven't tried yet, but i beat the second one in about 15s with Ashe basically doing all the damage.

Tonberry was even more fun, trying to figure out how to sub-30 with practically no earth SBs (and the one en-earth character i do have limited to 2 hits). turned out the key was going without a healer. i busted out Bartz's old BSB1 with earth commands, Squall just going pure non-elemental with his BSB2 since i have him full dived, my first chance getting to really use Prishe with her BSB, and then Ingus (and Ramza buffing/debuffing). i actually forgot i had General Leo's BSB so i'd probably put him in for Bartz if i ever farm it.

Love that our *4 star vitality motes woes are finally over, farmed them a bunch today and with some stamina potions. Now I just need the wisdom mote dungeon open so I can dive Lulu, Rinoa and other mages (or spellblade spheres)

Did the Protect the Espers hard today, not too bad but Angel Emperor is still a dick with his ultimate dispels, but if you can DPS him fast enough you can just go straight to the next dispel and then rebuff.

We finally have Madeen and I got the 5* bravery motes for Zack's LM2!

i actually have basically the same anount of dexterity and vitality for 4* motes. wouldn't characters typically use a similar amount of each? though i have kind of a surplus in brave so maybe not.

wisdom is the only one i'm really hurting in at 230 (and this is before my planned potential Yuffie and Vivi dives). everything else is 500+.

turns out this FF1 torment was easy enough to CM even with no FF1 SB. Cloud USB + 6x Saint Cross was just barely enough damage. had to use WoL's default SB, and dust off those low level haste and boost abilities. i also had to MC3 WoL, though no 4* dive needed.

i think Ramza BSB2 RW would have been better, replacing Matoya (who meteored through trash and then did absolutely nothing against Astos) with Garland. then that's two holy attackers and don't have to keep manually casting haste and boost, plus i'd have a spare slot for dispel.
