Sheeeeesh.... 80 hour playthrough >_>'
Fun game, though. Holy hell, there's a fuckton of content and I didn't even do everything. Nevermind, the different choices to make throughout the game. It'll probably be awhile before I play it again, but it's highly likely that I will. Incredible damn game. And as a massive Baldur's Gate fan, it was incredibly satisfying. Haven't playing a game like this in a long time. It just goes to show that the genre is criminally unsaturated. On to Deadfire! --- Hail Hydra ... Copied to Clipboard!

I funded it via Kickstarter and have still yet to touch it. I've been getting the Baldur's Gate II itch again so maybe this will be a good time to start PoE. Was thinking of soloing my first playthrough as a paladin or make a mass party of just rangers and bears.

I do feel it is a niche genre, not many can tolerate sitting there reading a wall of text. For some folks, the story needs to be good for them to be able to sit there reading the wall of text. My friend and I co-oped through Divinity: Original Sin and D:OS 2 and I thought the amount of text in both games was just about right. Enough to give you a story but not so much that you spend more time reading than playing. --- "You must gather your party before venturing forth" "Go for the eyes Boo! Go for the eyes!" ... I liked it but wish the gear selection was more interesting. Fucking balance, I want to be insanely op endgame like in BG.

Was thinking of soloing my first playthrough as a paladin or make a mass party of just rangers and bears. This will scratch that Baldur's Gate itch, for sure. As for your party, Pillars is considerably more difficult than Baldur's Gate(some fights are just poorly designed). I wouldn't try soloing your first run, but that's just me. If you're not sold on the companions, I didn't really find too many of them that interesting, myself. So on my first playthrough, I only took Eder and Aloth and they only periodcally interacted with things that were happening. Otherwise, they were dead silent and didn't have a lot of banter between them, outside of two or so short conversations. It's nothing quite like Dragon Age: Origins. I don't think playing with a full custom party will hamper your enjoyment, too much. Hell, especially if you like the Icewind Dale series. Krow_Incarnate posted...It just goes to show that the genre is criminally unsaturated. There is a looooot of text in Pillars. Easily more than either of the Baldur's Gate games. With that said, I found myself clicking and partly-skimming through most of it, and I was still able to get the gist of what most everyone said. VeeVees posted... Gear seemed to be a bit different than the norm. With that said, I do wish that the second game carried over levels, like BG1 > BG2 and by the end of Deadfire, we'd be like level 30 or some shit. helIy posted... the 2nd one is out Yep, I've played a good bit of it a while ago. I probably had a good 20 hours or so in it, before I decided "Hey, I should try and do the first game again." I played PoE a long time ago when it first came out, but it didn't really click right away. Now I love the damn game. It's got it's annoyances and in some cases, faulty execution, but all-in-all, it's a damn good time. --- Hail Hydra ... Copied to Clipboard!

I actually got that game from a person here who was doing a give away (miroku of the night-i butchered the name probably).
It seemed ok, I'll probably give it a second go. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Yeah, I'd give it until you get to Defiance Bay, at least. That's when the game really opens up.
I wasn't initially sold on it myself when I first tried it. And I think it's "mirokuofnite" with a number. That was nice of him. --- Hail Hydra ... Copied to Clipboard!

I really enjoyed that game when I was playing it, especially the dark atmosphere... But for whatever reason I got distracted by something else and never went back to it. I was probably like a third of the way in. Hopefully I get back to it someday.

The darker atmosphere made me think it was going to be like Icewind Dale or something with a mostly snowy/woodland environment and almost no cities.
I'm glad I was wrong about that one. --- Hail Hydra ... Copied to Clipboard!
