I mean the guy grew up in NYC. Its just the last time he lived there was probably in his 20s if I remember correctly? Im sure he had to use the subway at least a few times in his youth. The difference between this and Trump is that Bernies mistake isnt malicious and someone whos never been to NYC or hasnt ridden the subway in a while can get tripped up by it. Trumps statement on the other hand... who could make that same mistake?

Unless you're constantly running red lights or bowing past stop signs most people aren't required to show their ID while on the way to the grocery store either.
