Honorable mention to Red Meat, only to get the name out there. I don't think it would ever come close to being a Top Ten entry, but it's delightfully weird and if you haven't read it you should look it up.

Peanuts. Because it's timeless.

Disagree it's better, but Peanuts is Top Ten for me for sure. Solid choice, solid reasoning. It is timeless.

I don't know that I'd put Get Fuzzy in my top ten, but I do love that strip.

This, tbh. And it's got that whole hipster following now, largely thanks to some internet personalities making it "cool"

In terms of bang-for-buck (or panels-for-hyuk), Dilbert was always funnier (and with better social insights), as was the Far Side, and... there are at least a few others. Of course, for pure hilarity -- and it might not count -- but nobody beats Stan fucking Kelly, the fictional political cartoonist.

Granted, in terms of overall content, Prince Valiant was always fucking baller. The art was great, the stories were neat, and the color was often beautiful. It was a great reminder that comic strips are more than just the funnies.

I always knew when my dad got to the Calvin & Hobbes strip because he would just start laughing uncontrollably. Some of the others would get a chuckle, but that was the only one that would make him burst out in laughter.

Dilbert is a close second for me, but it took me a long time before I appreciated it because not only did it replace Calvin & Hobbes in my local paper when that discontinued, but I never understood half the jokes until I got an office job. It is always just...so on point.

Hey, The Calvin and Hobbs Complete Collection is down to 50 bucks for the paperback and 80 for the hardcover. I think I'll finally pick it up.

BTW, is Dilbert still coming out? Can't find a complete collection for Dilbert.

Yep, it is still being made, you can find pretty much all of them archived on the website (I know, not physical, but still awesome):

I prefer Bloom County. That and C&H are the only comic strips I've actually spent money on, owning all of the Bloom County collections (Billy and the Boingers Bootleg, The Night of the Mary Kay Commandos, etc.) and the 3-volume Complete C&H release from probably a decade ago.

Funniest thing I remember being in my C&H collection.

Calvin(outside the house): "MOM!"
Calvin: "HEY MOOOOM!!"
Mom: "For GODS SAKE! Come inside and talk to me!"
Calvin(Now inside): "I stepped in dog doo, can I use the hose to wash off my shoes?"
