I want to know why it's not on CNN or any other mainstream outlet. I'm tired of instances and stories like these being virtually ignored when it's well known and obvious that if the races were reversed, it'd be a national, even world story.

Literally protests and riots could happen over this if it was a white adult punching a 12 year old black kid.

Please stop acting like it's a coincidence this isn't receiving more attention. If you support the fact that it's not, at least explain your reasoning. You're not fooling me or anyone else. The fact most of CE doesn't have anything at all to say about it is pretty telling within itself.

That was braver than some people might realize, especially with political tensions as high as they are right now...

And for those who are not aware, the "knock-out game" is not exclusive to white victims. Petty assholes who play the dangerous "game" have been shown to target practically anyone who looks vulnerable, including their own peers. They have also critically assaulted disabled people and the elderly this way.

It's not a practice related to high intelligence....

Honest answer? There's no hook. The Knockout Game was already covered in national media a few years ago. It's old hat. News networks only care about stories that give them ratings.

White-on-black racist violence is a reliable well to draw from for whatever reason. Black-on-white violence isn't. Black-on-black violence even less so.

All I want is consistent and honest reporting. It's quite clear this isn't the case. Even with entertaining your assessment of the situation as something other than racism still doesn't explain the lack of attention this story has gotten, or how it was described and written about. Usually they even include a video or link to it with a warning of "This may be disturbing" --- they didn't even do that.

Anyone can see the obvious double standards in reporting here. They fall into three categories: 1) Won't post in this topic (most popular), 2) Gaslight and pretend this case is somehow profoundly different or 3) Will acknowledge the reporting variances and defend the rationale (very rare)

Hate crimes are such a nonsense concept. If i kill you because you're white that somehow makes it worse then if I killed you because you looked at me "wrong"? Obviously not. It's equally awful either way.

In terms of motivation, it absolutely could have been racial. Though, to be fair, the kid doesn't really look...uhh...cool(not to be mean to the kid). Could have been more along the lines of "Watch me knock out this nerd". Ultimately, motivation doesn't matter a ton. Still a fucked up thing to do regardless.

And yeah, if the races were reversed it would be a way bigger story but that's just the nature of the media in 2020.
