If not for ROTJ I'd probably be forced to pick TLJ by default

in all seriousness, i don't dislike RotJ as much as i used to (especially now that they've confirmed that boba fett didn't die) but it's by no means the best star wars movie.

also doesn't help that i've never seen the original version and the extra stuff they added to the special edition is REALLY bad.

i think return of the jedi does belong in this poll, FWIW

i'd think fully 50% of people would put 4-5 in the top 2, with another 25% with 6 in the top 2 and 4-5 rounding it out

I think it would be pretty evenly split between IV and VI in the top two, actually. RotJ has vocal detractors, but it also has a lot of fans.

And I have no love for the prequels, but ranking the Clone Wars movie anything but last is "yikes" territory

Really comes down to VIII v VI for me. They're my top two in the franchise overall anyway* lol. Went with TLJ here but eh.

People disliking II is not a fanbase thing, it's just a really really common opinion.

II is widely regarded to have the worst writing and acting, although Clone Wars deserves to be in that discussion.

You should have left out Episode VI because that is one of the most critically acclaimed and now it's obviously winning. I voted for it because it's the third best episode imo.

Would've been interesting to see an unbiased poll that leaves out the original trilogy to see the new distribution, especially today when the prequels are receiving more love compared to the hatred they had when originally released (except for Episode III which was cheered when it came out and now it is a prime source of memes).

Also, why leave out Solo? It is an alternate take on the Star Wars universe not full of Force stuff and lightsabers. Many people appreciated it because of that.

If you're going to complain about the results sucking (which is a way to indirectly attack people's opinions), let's complain about the construction of the poll first then.

Voted TLJ, but obviously respect the fact that RotJ is winning; they're similar movies in a lot of ways (great highs but held back by some filler). RotS is cool too. RO doing well is really the only part of the results I don't really get.

Not entirely sure if I said this before, but I don't even consider the execution of the sequel trilogy bad, more just half-hearted. People also act like the franchise is in an even more dire state than it is, when at worst it just went from being THE big franchise to just another big franchise. The DCEU and Sony Pictures in general are in bigger shambles than Lucasfilm is IMO.
