Renting is the only thing most can afford. Buying is out priced unless you go way out of the area, and even then I'd still need a significant deposit

This is a delusional right wing talking point that is based on nothing to justify not caring about minimum wage workers. There isn't any economic theory behind it, and it isn't based in reality. If minimum wage was meant for only high school teens, it would be a law that it only applies to high school teens. Many adults receive minimum wage, and some don't even make anything. These are problems right wingers don't want to fix, or even see as problems, because they hate the poor and view the market as a god that determines your fate, and it is always just. It's a cult, really.

Even if it were true that minimum wage jobs were meant for teenagers, that doesn't mean that's how it plays out in practice.

It's not true though. Historically people have been able to raise families of like 5+, house with a yard, vacation once a year on a minimum wage job.

except it's not afford it's only takes 30% of your income. What it does say is 2 people can afford a 2 bedroom apartment working mininum wage and still have 70% of their income for not rent. So, live with your parents or get a roommate. There's better arguments for why min wage is overdue to be increased. But a single individual can't afford a 2 bedroom apartment and for 30% of their income, is not one of them.

But, you only read the headline because emotions are more important than facts.

The housing market in most US cities is over regulated. Zoning laws and price controls created this problem. Cities with the least regulation (like Houston) have the lowest housing cost.

Who said anything about a nice home? Let's just start with 'shelter'. An apartment. Reasonable 1br apartments should be affordable to any full-time minimum wage worker. And by affordable, I mean they can live there, pay all their bills and utilities, and still have some money for groceries, gas, and a little left over to save, invest or spend.

why? living alone is a luxury. There's nothing stopping people from getting roommates and it's what you're encouraged to do. It's vastly cheaper for multiple people to live together and have shared cost then for each of those people to be on their own.

The belief that minimum wage is for teenagers has been around for quite a while. Those companies recently started raising their wages. The federal minimum has been the same for over a decade.

People who have committed violent crimes against others in the apartment or made themselves a serious nuisance with repeated or extreme offenses(dog violations such as late and excessive barking, no leash failure to control no cleaning poop, loud parties, smoking on the property, harassment, propping open the security door when not actively using it, damaging common areas through gross negligence or malice etc.)
2. Have caused signigant damage out of malice or negelience
3. Are making illegal or dangerous drugs/chemicals on the property and/or making other illegal and/or dangerous transactions on the property.
4. Have especially on more then one occasion recently taken actions that flagrantly risk the safety of the property and residents.

Should cover most exceptions. There will need to be more to it but yeah.

It doesnt matter tbh. People still wont have the money to cover back pay of however many months.

Unless something is done regarding the back payments themselves those evictions will definitely be served. The court system is still very alive and well.

This is a big problem here in Hawaii. People are buying land with the sole purpose to make illegal monster houses to rent out.
