I regularly chat with BTB on Discord, along with a handful of other buddies he had introduced me to. That said, boundaries are a thing when they're a thing, and communication certainly helps establish some of them between people. Don't assume everyone knows what you do or don't like, for one thing, no matter how "common sense" you think it might be.

there's definitely a lot of names in FF that look cooler than how they were intended to sound. cait sith is awesome though.

Cait Sith is gaelic in origin, meant to be pronounced "cat-shee," and basically means "cat fairy." That is hardly dumb.

Yuffie's name, like Aeris/Aerith, is a JRPG-style butchering of an older name or word. In this case, the old Greek word for joy or happiness. This did not spark euphoria, for me.

A while back they gave posters the option to change their username, but it kept their old username on their profile for whatever reason. Ain't that right, @ Nade_Duck ?

Technically that only applies to the reviews side. Then, as a third layer of fuckery, back during the Gamespot integration it made you choose a name without spaces (if your username had spaces) that would be usable on Gamespot so some accounts have three names depending on the site section. Good times.

Looking at the archive site, he was rather active until he disappeared. For someone who has come here nearly everyday for over a decade to just vanish without a slow decline in their posting habits unfortunately isnt a very good sign.

I'm not entirely sure what his last posts looked like, and the only ones that might still be up were in the geek topic. I certainly don't recall him seeming any different than usual or mentioning any health issues.

I can't imagine him being in jail. My immediate thought was that it might have been COVID (or possibly an accident of some kind, especially since it was right around Thanksgiving) where he might have just been in the hospital or something but, given how long he's been gone now, it seems like it could be something much more dire.
