I did it when I was little with my mom and grandma and that side of the family and didn't think anything of it. It wasn't until I spent a weekend with my dad (I was maybe 5 at the time) and went to give him a kiss on the lips goodbye that I realized it wasn't a universal norm. My dad immediately froze, became repulsed, pushed me away, and told me that was wrong. Never attempted to kiss a family member again, let alone on the lips.

Not something I have ever done but overall I do not consider it weird. I would imagine some of the stuff we do in the States is weird to other culture. To each their own.
That said, there are some cultural practices that I do feel crosses the line in terms of what is right and wrong (i.e. the wife being the property of the husband) --- "You must gather your party before venturing forth" "Go for the eyes Boo! Go for the eyes!" ... Copied to Clipboard!

Yeah. It is. But one side of my family basically doesn't kiss. They barely hug. I shook my grandpa's hand a few times, but that was the extent of the affection XD

I can do hugs. Very rarely do I hug people though. The most is with my Nephew as he likes to hug everyone and say he loves them. Still it's nice to hear.
