Like you could finish all your work in two days but got paid for four so you just got to take online classes or whatever.

Would the time just drag? I had a job where I did like a week of work every few months and it just dragged on all day.

I got more details on my new offer. I told the place that theyre paying me for four days worth of work (less than what I thought but still great) when theres only one day worth of work to do and they were just like just find ways to fill your time like taking online classes or something, its a contract we cant change it

idk, I could have fun solving kaggle problems but one of the best things about my job is how fast the time goes by because my day is pretty packed

Can I bring my Switch and play games?

Either case, it'd be great. I would like it.

It sucks. It sounds cool, but it sucks. I had one where 75% of my work was just making my own projects and completing them and that seems like a dream, but it really isn't when it's not about subject matter you are personally invested in.

I can feel this. My current job at least gives some dopamine spikes by how crazy the day can be balancing different activities.

I've done that. My company was the best division in the megacorp so they shut us down, transferred a handful of jobs to another facility and saddled them with everything else a hundred or so people were doing. So, the warehouse had less and less to do while we slowly wrapped up production, fewer parts came in, fewer finished radar simulators went out.

We were given the go-ahead; do whatever we wanted, provided what little work was there got done.

I spent four months getting paid to surf the web and learn how to play Dwarf Fortress for about six and a half hours a day.

That's my job right now. I finish all my work in less than 3 hours usually. So I need to spend the next 4-5 going through old reports, reorganizing, and trying to find things to do.

I don't think I would enjoy that. When I'm working I want to be doing something productive. Sitting around all day would be nice for a few days, but longer than that and it would get depressed.

Thats my current job, basically. Even more so when I was active and worked more shift. Id come in, get my work done usually in the first hour or two, then have the rest of the night free. I watched a ton of YouTube. And this was before I was even big into it. This was before switch, so I had a tablet for shows and a 3DS for games. I even listened to podcast. We even brought is movies sometimes.

When I got another person after being alone for a while, wed switch on and off. On the first night, Id come in for the first half, and theyd do the second. And then for the remaining for days, when work was done, theyd leave early (like 6-7 hours early) on the 2nd and 4th, Id leave early on the 3rd and 5th day. It was nice.

I have the same job now, but on day shift. Still not a ton of work. I bring my switch and fire in... I could always play on my phone, as well... The internet is great, though it depends what blocked and whats not...

Had it, was bored off my ass.

Honestly I would rather a job where I was so busy that I feel like there is not enough time in the day to get everything done then a job where I was sitting around doing nothing. Problem is that when you spend so much time doing nothing, it is hard to get motivated to do something when you actually do have things to do.

I totally understand this. When Im motivated and getting things done its in all parts of my life. Hard to switch on and off for work.

Id really like the extra day off a week this job offers. I guess Im just scared to give up my current position and a bit scared to work alone. I probably shouldnt be. Worried Ill dislike the location since I really like my current place. Worried itll be hard to make new friends.

At a job I had many years ago I wrote a program that did all the daily tasks in about 15 minutes, giving me the rest of the 10 hour day to do as I pleased. I mostly just used the time to goof off and play games. I kinda wish I had made better use of that time

Second this. Also, you start to resent that you're essentially wasting your life sitting in a place symbolically to earn money when you're not really working and you could be anywhere else. It starts to eat at you.

Also the days are loooong.

That reminds me, I did actually also take some classes while doing the job I do/did. It was nice to have all that free time to study and stuff...

Thats why you gotta do something to make the day go by faster. For me, Im lucky since Im good friends with one of my co-workers. Were always joking about something. Then, we watch movies, tv shows, YouTube, etc. on my fire. And we both play our switch and stuff. So they say actually flies by pretty quick...

Yeah, his is making he a bit cautious taking the job, even though its similar pay as I make now for one less day of work. I question the worth of some of the work I do on occasion, but it wasnt as bad as when I just browsed Reddit all day a few years ago.

Im not sure if it would be that lax. I doubt I can bring in a switch, I have to at least give the illusion Im working or doing something noble I think.

Depends. From what you said, it sounds like they are telling you to find something to fill your time. It also depends on how they watch. If someone who would rat you out is always there, maybe not. If the other person/people there are cool, its probably fine. Also, I wouldnt say relax with a switch and your feet up, but just set the switch on its kickstands and use a controller. Theres also a tablet you could bring. Its can be used for e-books. But you could also download a show or movie on NetFlix to watch, as well...
