Why did Slade want Robin so bad ffs?

He's easily the smartest, best tactician and best fighter out of all of them?

The rest get to rely on their powers while Robin is even better without them

Also Robin is the leader, lose Robin and there is no teen titans, lose anyone else and they're just short handed

Beast boy. Given his power base getting expanded to demons and exo species, his powers are probably the least developed. Heck since many animals can swap genders, have extreme regeneration, mind control (parasites) and a few can age backwards he is probably the only titan that will outlive th he planet ( except planet cyborg)

I forget if it was ever actually said, but I think it was implied at least a couple times that the reason why Slade wanted Robin was it was sort of an underhanded fuck you to Batman. But because of licensing issues, they couldn't actually refer to Batman by name.

As for who to recruit, Starfire seems ideal - she's pretty powerful but also kind of dumb, so probably fairly easy to manipulate or break (and potentially gets you a connection to intergalactic influence and tech). Raven's the real powerhouse, but also so unstable and powerful that she's too likely to backfire on you. Cyborg's got tech and skills (in theory, though moreso in the comics than in the show), but he's a bit too strong-willed to control (hence the later Hive storyline).

I would choose Starfire or Raven for none of the reasons you listed. If I'm a villain, I'm going full evil and every great evil villain needs a hot, unstable love interest side kick.

Robin is pretty much Batman Jr, and has superior intangibles and training to anyone else. The rest of the group are those athletes that get by hs/college sports on physical strength alone and get punked as soon as they go pro

Because Robin has the potential to become Slade, whereas the others he could just turn into better versions of themselves. Slade and Robin are both highly intelligent tacticians and martial artists. There's no better choice as a successor, at least not among the Teen Titans.

yeah, that's because he's robin, and he's written to be that way

however cyborg is canonically better than robin in near every single way aside from agility.

hell, if beast boy went rogue, he also is better than robin in every way, simply by virtue of being able to turn into anything.

same with raven, though that's not exactly a fair matchup considering she's a mindflayer and would just, yknow, flay his mind.

Batman takes out guys that could solo bb/cyborg/raven/Starfire regularly, Robin has trained with Batman and has helped him take out said villains. Like I don't think you realize how much more training and real fighting experience he has had, he's the only one that was trained to be a superhero. There's a reason the team pretty much falls apart without him

You can't just say ohh cyborg is stronger so he would win when Robin helped take down villains that could throw cyborg around like a ragdoll

Doesnt every criminal know who batman is. The joker and harly know, mr freeze knows about alfred, the riddler had already figured it out. I mean I take it that they probably dont incriminate him just on the basis on how he made copperpot look more insane/delusional than he is

Depends on the continuity. In the mainstream, afaik none of them know, except maybe Riddler at times (and obviously Ras al Ghul) and pre-amnesiac Bane. And in other continuities, villains often only know because he revealed it to them. If his secret identity was widely known, he wouldn't live very long.

Whether you mean Copperhead or Cobblepot (aka Penguin), neither is insane or delusional in most continuities. Penguin is more likely to wind up at Blackgate than Arkham.
